Welcome to the

Museo della Cultura Alpina e Ladina del Comelico

The Museum of Alpine and Ladin Culture of Comelico is an ethnographic museumfounded in 1982 by the will of the Regola of Padola and opened to the public in 1990.

The Regola allocates about 500 square meters of the former ‘Don Bosco’ elementary school for the exhibition of all the objects that were once part of the daily life of the people of our valley.

Each section of the museum offers a detailed overview of various aspects of traditional mountain life. The displayed objects and realistic reconstructions showcase the trades, houses, tools, and daily practices of our ancestors.

Additionally, the museum attaches great importance to the Ladin language by highlighting the importance of the dialect and the linguistic traditions of the valley.

Historical documents, audio recordings, and video testimonies contribute to preserving and enhancing this fundamental part of our cultural heritage.

The museum is fully accessible to wheelchair users.

The museum is equipped with an elevator and ramps to ensure that all visitors can fully enjoy our exhibits. Additionally, the pathways are designed to be spacious and convenient, ensuring a comfortable and inclusive experience for everyone.

Along the route, there are several QR codes strategically placed in various sections of the museum, offering visitors the opportunity to access informative audio content. Simply scan them with your smartphone to listen to details and anecdotes about mountain life and local traditions, available in Italian, Ladin, English, and German. This service helps make the museum experience more engaging and accessible to an international audience.
